THE 2011 UGIE LADIES’ FLY FISHING FESTIVAL
This annual event presented by the Maclear Fly Fishing Club has become one of the most popular on the South African fly fishing calendar. It’s scheduled this year for the 22nd to the 24th of September and I feel inclined to announce it early because there will be a scramble for places. The two I was fortunate to attend were impressively well managed and organised. In fact, I’ve never heard of one Ladies’ Festival that wasn’t. Key to the popularity of this festival is that the waters on offer are really good, the scenery is spectacular, tuition and guiding is on tap (for the rank beginner to the experienced fly fisher) and the catering is superb. Comfortable B&B accommodation is available in Ugie and Maclear.
