Fishing News

I will be away fly fishing in the Eastern Cape area around Ugie, Maclear and Rhodes leaving on Tuesday 20th for 10 days, so my apologies but this website will be static during this period. I will do my best to post the odd article and photographs, but that will depend on my conquering whatever technology demons I find in the way. News is that the streams around Rhodes are very clear and water levels are dropping after a spell of dry, windy weather. But I also hear the fish are biting again after that unseasonably cold and wet spell in this part of the world, so here’s hoping.

I am on schedule to release the second edition of Hunting Trout in its hardcover livery in November. I have had a prototype copy in my hands that looks magnificent. I will be selling through a few selected retail outlets, but again mostly by mail order. If you want to pre-order a copy please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. As far as the 50 Limited Edition copies are concerned, they will also hopefully be available in late November.

To all the people who have already pre-ordered hard cover or Limited Edition copies, many thanks.

(Hunting Trout; 448 pages, many illustrations, anecdotes and tips on presentation and fly tying. The previous two impressions have been sold out for the past two years. The retail price will be R250, including secure packaging and postage and copies will be signed and personalised at your request.)
